Monday - presentation for entire class in art room. Some students will begin preparing their disks and transferring. Others will return to computer lab to complete their artwork. All artwork should be turned in Monday by the end of the period.
Tuesday - Thursday - students will transfer images to disks. Tuesday or Wednesday the first batch of disks will go into the etching bath and be ready the next day for clean-up
Friday - the last day to transfer and put into acid bath
During the week there will be a lot of downtime as some wait to transfer their image and others wait for their disk to go into the etching bath. Students who are waiting will work in the computer lab on their ‘Painterly Image’
The ‘Painterly Project’ is a color photograph approximately 8.5 by 11 (landscape or portrait) which is edited and has filters applied to it so the finished product looks like a painted picture. To heighten this illusion the image will be printed on textured paper. This project will be due when we return from break.

We’ll start this quarter with my favorite project - the copper etching.
Monday - project explained. You’ll begin looking for graphic/photo. Very important - this project requires your own artwork, either a drawing or photograph.
Tuesday - a short demo on how to create a B&W graphic from a color picture. Note when I say B&W I mean exactly that - there are no grays in this assignment.
Tuesday & Wednesday - work on your artwork. It will be in a 1.25” diameter circle.
Thursday - While I arrange & print the graphics to the PNP paper, you’ll get a demonstration in the art room of how to transfer the image to the disk.
Thursday & Friday - in art room cleaning disk and transferring. This is a slowish process and probably not everyone will get finished in the two days.

The magazine assignment is due Friday. This is the last grade of the 9 weeks so it must be turned in by Friday.

Tuesday is the last day in the art room for the fabric project.
By the end of this 9 weeks you must complete one tutorial in the tutorials folder and turn in your result. Name this last-name-project-name for example, Binnion-Split-Pictures. I’ve pencilled in Wednesday and Thursday for you to play with these tutorials.
The next project is called Magazine Cover. You’ll be using your own photos and some additional resources I’ll provide to create a magazine cover featuring you.
